ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE – The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, has ushered in a new era of clinical leadership with the appointment of renowned Consultant Nephrologist, Dr. Olusola Adebisi, as its new Head of Clinical Services (HCS). Dr. Adebisi officially assumed office on Monday, June 15, 2026, following the completion of the tenure of his predecessor, Dr. A.S. Adediran, whose administration recorded notable strides in the institution’s clinical service delivery.

The appointment was approved by the hospital’s 7th Board of Management during its 6th Extraordinary Meeting held on June 8, 2026. The decision has been widely regarded as a strategic move aimed at strengthening clinical operations through experienced and visionary leadership.

Dr. Adebisi, who until his elevation served as Head of the Nephrology Unit at FMC Abeokuta, is widely recognized as one of the leading experts in renal medicine within the West African sub-region. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as a strong advocate for preventive nephrology, leading several public health awareness campaigns, including annual World Kidney Day initiatives designed to promote early diagnosis and management of kidney-related diseases.

Beyond his clinical achievements, Dr. Adebisi has played a significant role in training and mentoring healthcare professionals, including resident doctors, medical officers, and specialized nephrology nurses. His contributions have helped foster a culture of excellence and continuous professional development within the institution.

His administrative and leadership credentials are equally impressive. He previously served as Chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), FMC Abeokuta Chapter, where he championed professional development and strengthened collaboration among consultants. He currently serves as Faculty Treasurer of the West African College of Physicians (WACP), a position that reflects the confidence reposed in his organizational and financial management abilities.

Dr. Adebisi’s involvement in organized medicine also includes active participation in the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), experiences that have deepened his understanding of healthcare administration and policy in Nigeria.

Outside the medical profession, Dr. Adebisi remains actively engaged in community service and social development. He is the current President of the Rotary Club in the Oke-Ona Egba District, where he leads initiatives focused on humanitarian services, maternal health, and community empowerment. He also serves as Social Secretary of the Abeokuta Sports Club, contributing to social and cultural development in Ogun State.

Known for his integrity, compassion, and commitment to service, Dr. Adebisi is expected to focus on strengthening patient-centred care, advancing clinical research and residency training, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and promoting harmony among healthcare professionals across the institution.
