Family Announces Passing of Barrister Adewale Adeniji at 61
The Adeniji family of Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the passing of renowned legal practitioner, businessman, and cleric, Barrister Adewale Olubiyi Adeniji, who died on June 12, 2026, at the age of 61.
According to a statement issued by his son, Fikun Adeniji, on behalf of the family, the late Barrister Adeniji passed on peacefully and has been described as a distinguished professional and community leader whose impact transcended the legal, business, and religious spheres.
A proud son of Abeokuta, Barrister Adeniji was widely respected for his contributions to the legal profession, his entrepreneurial vision, and his dedication to spiritual leadership. Throughout his lifetime, he earned admiration for his commitment to national development and service to humanity.
Paying tribute to his father, Fikun Adeniji described him as “a great man, full of energy and life,” noting that his passion for Nigeria and its progress remained evident in all his endeavors.
“Everyone who knew my dad knew he was deeply passionate about his country and dedicated to its progress and development. His legacy of service and positive impact will continue to resonate through the many lives he influenced,” the statement read.
The family said the deceased is survived by his wife, Olukemi Adeniji; children; grandchildren; siblings; and a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and associates.
While expressing appreciation for the outpouring of support received since his passing, the family requested continued prayers as they mourn the loss and celebrate the life of a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend.
“The family expresses gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support received during this difficult time and requests continued prayers as we mourn the loss and celebrate the life of a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend,” the statement added.
The family also disclosed that details of the funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
