Hon. Sadiat Odeyemi Provides Free Healthcare, Empowers Residents with POS Machines and Food Packs in Igbogbo/Baiyeku
Hundreds of residents of Ward C3 in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) benefited from a comprehensive free healthcare and empowerment programme organised by Councillor Hon. Princess Sadiat Adeoba Odeyemi, who combined medical services, economic support and food assistance in a major grassroots intervention.
The outreach, held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Offin Last Bus Stop, Offin-Ile, attracted a large turnout of residents seeking access to healthcare services and economic empowerment opportunities.
The programme featured a wide range of medical services, including Tuberculosis (TB) screening, chest X-rays, blood pressure checks, eye examinations, family planning consultations and general medical assessments. Beneficiaries also received free prescription drugs, corrective eyeglasses and food packs aimed at easing the burden of economic hardship on vulnerable households.
In a unique addition to the healthcare initiative, Hon. Odeyemi partnered with Fidelity Bank to distribute Point of Sale (POS) terminals to selected small business owners within the community. The initiative was designed to enhance financial inclusion and support local entrepreneurs by enabling them to offer modern payment solutions and expand their businesses.
The event attracted notable community leaders and stakeholders, including apex leader of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Saka Abolore; the Baale of Offin, High Chief Seyi Alimi; as well as representatives from the LCDA's Health and Information Departments.
Speaking through the impact of the programme, residents expressed appreciation for the opportunity to access quality healthcare services at no cost. Many beneficiaries noted that services such as TB screening, hypertension checks and eye care are often difficult to access due to financial constraints.
Health experts at the outreach emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment of illnesses such as tuberculosis and hypertension, noting that timely diagnosis significantly improves health outcomes and reduces long-term complications.
The distribution of food palliatives provided additional relief to families facing economic challenges, while the POS terminals offered a practical avenue for small-scale traders and entrepreneurs to improve their businesses and increase income opportunities.
The outreach is the latest in a series of community-focused interventions by Hon. Odeyemi, whose leadership in Ward C3 has been marked by initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access, economic empowerment and residents' welfare.
