Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearms and Ammunition in Ojo

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and alleged hitmen linked to a series of violent crimes and killings in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo, and surrounding communities.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwokolo, popularly known as “Oblo” (35), Ayola Israel, alias “Essy Pawpaw” (39), Ebuka Nnamdi (31), and Chinedu Okafor (22), were apprehended during a police operation at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo Local Government Area, following credible intelligence received by the Command.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to combat cultism, violent crimes, and other criminal activities across Lagos State.

Preliminary investigations reportedly uncovered evidence linking the suspects to several violent crimes. Police investigators recovered a video from one of the suspects’ mobile phones, which allegedly captured the killing of unidentified persons within Ajanmgbadi and nearby communities.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity and admitted to involvement in a series of killings and violent attacks that have terrorised residents in the area.

Further searches conducted by police operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and 13 live cartridges believed to have been used in criminal operations.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in other criminal activities, identify additional members of the gang, and apprehend other accomplices still at large.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding Lagos State of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.
