Promasidor Reaffirms Commitment to Dairy Development, Local Milk Production at World Milk Day 2026

Promasidor Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s dairy industry through sustainable local production and strategic investments, as stakeholders gathered in Abuja to commemorate World Milk Day 2026 and chart a path toward greater self-sufficiency in milk production.

Promasidor Nigeria Limited has reiterated its commitment to the growth and transformation of Nigeria’s dairy sector through sustainable investments, local production, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening the country’s dairy value chain.

The company made the commitment during the 2026 World Milk Day celebration held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, under the theme, “Celebrating Women Dairy Farmers – Promoting Fresh Milk Consumption for a Healthy Nation.”

The event, organised by the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development in collaboration with the Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN) and development partners, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, dairy farmers, researchers, private sector operators, and other stakeholders to discuss the future of Nigeria’s dairy industry and the role of women in driving sustainable growth.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, Idris Ajimobi; representatives of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment; state government officials; development partners; and key players in the dairy sector.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, commended Promasidor and other private sector stakeholders for their contributions to the development of Nigeria’s dairy industry. He also unveiled the National Dairy Policy Implementation Framework, designed to boost local milk production, dairy processing, cold chain infrastructure, milk aggregation, and pasture development nationwide.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of Promasidor Nigeria, the Managing Director, Francois Gillet, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s quest for a sustainable and competitive dairy industry.

“It is a great honour to join stakeholders in commemorating World Milk Day 2026. Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of women dairy farmers to food security, improved nutrition, and livelihoods across our communities,” Gillet said.

He also commended the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and other stakeholders for their efforts toward transforming the dairy sector and creating an enabling environment for investment and growth.

Highlighting the company’s achievements, Gillet disclosed that Promasidor operates the Ikun Dairy Farm in Ikun-Amure, Ekiti State, regarded as the largest dairy farm in Nigeria. According to him, the farm has over 750 cattle producing an average of 25 kilograms of milk daily while creating indirect employment opportunities for more than 1,000 people.

“At Promasidor Nigeria, we remain committed to advancing Nigeria’s dairy sector through sustainable local production and investment in dairy development,” he stated.

As part of the conference activities, Promasidor’s Chief Technical Officer, Brighton Ochieng, participated in a panel discussion where he highlighted the role of technology and innovation in improving dairy farming productivity.

Ochieng stressed the importance of modern dairy management practices, improved livestock genetics, and technology-driven solutions, including artificial intelligence, in building a more efficient and globally competitive dairy industry.

He reaffirmed the company’s readiness to continue collaborating with government agencies, development partners, and industry stakeholders to increase local milk production and strengthen Nigeria’s dairy value chain.

Stakeholders at the event renewed calls for stronger public-private partnerships, increased investment in dairy farming, greater support for women dairy farmers, and policies that promote local milk consumption and food security.

Promasidor Nigeria said it remains committed to providing quality nutrition through its products while supporting sustainable dairy development initiatives that create jobs, empower communities, and contribute to national economic growth.

The World Milk Day celebration served as a platform for stakeholders to reaffirm their collective commitment to transforming Nigeria’s dairy industry into a major contributor to food security, employment generation, and rural development.
