Access Bank Debunks Viral Shutdown Rumour, Assures Customers of Uninterrupted Operations

Access Bank Plc has refuted a widely circulated social media post alleging that the bank has shut down its operations, describing the claim as false, misleading, and the handiwork of impersonators.

In a statement issued by the bank's management and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), Access Bank assured customers, partners, stakeholders, and the general public that its operations remain uninterrupted across all its subsidiaries.

According to the bank, the fake message, which has been circulating on social media platforms and WhatsApp, did not originate from its verified communication channels.

"We wish to reassure our customers, partners, stakeholders, and the public that Access Bank is safe, financially strong, and fully operational across all our subsidiaries. Our services continue to run seamlessly, and we remain committed to serving our customers with the highest standards of excellence," the statement said.

The bank disclosed that it is working with relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for creating and circulating the false information, noting that legal action would be taken against those found culpable.

Access Bank further reminded the public that the creation and dissemination of false information capable of causing panic, damaging reputations, or undermining confidence in institutions is an offence under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

It urged members of the public to disregard the misleading message and refrain from forwarding it, advising them to rely solely on information published through the bank's official and verified communication channels.

The bank also expressed appreciation to its customers, partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and confidence, reaffirming its commitment to delivering secure and reliable banking services.
