LASTMA Digital Centre Records 2,843 Public Engagements in First 30 Days, Strengthens Public Complaint System

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced that its newly inaugurated Digital Centre processed 2,843 public engagements within its first 30 days of operation, describing the milestone as evidence of growing public confidence in the agency's commitment to transparency, accountability and citizen-centred service delivery.

According to LASTMA, the engagements were recorded through its 3367 toll-free call centre between June 28 and July 29, 2026, reflecting increased public reliance on the agency for traffic-related enquiries, reports and complaints.

A breakdown of the engagements showed that the call centre received 1,047 enquiry calls, 709 commendation calls, 468 successfully resolved cases, 400 reports of road accidents and vehicle breakdowns, 163 formal complaints, 11 information requests and 45 unsuccessful calls, mainly due to abandoned calls, network interruptions and other technical issues.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the public response as a strong endorsement of the agency's drive towards operational excellence, institutional integrity, administrative transparency and professional service delivery.

Bakare-Oki also disclosed that the agency has established a Physical Complaint Centre (PCC) at its headquarters in Oshodi to complement the toll-free call centre by providing residents with a platform for face-to-face interactions.

He explained that the centre enables members of the public to lodge complaints, make enquiries and report traffic-related issues, including allegations of misconduct, unprofessional behaviour and operational concerns involving LASTMA personnel.

According to him, the Physical Complaint Centre forms part of the agency's broader institutional reform agenda aimed at strengthening public confidence, enhancing accountability and improving engagement between LASTMA and Lagos residents.

"The Physical Complaint Centre complements our 3367 Toll-Free Call Centre by providing members of the public who prefer face-to-face engagement with a convenient platform to report traffic-related concerns, seek clarifications and lodge complaints regarding the conduct of our officers. Every complaint received is treated with utmost seriousness and investigated in accordance with established administrative procedures and the principles of natural justice," Bakare-Oki said.

He reiterated LASTMA's zero-tolerance policy against corruption, extortion, abuse of office, misconduct and other forms of unprofessional conduct, assuring residents that every genuine complaint received would be investigated impartially and transparently.

The General Manager stressed that officers found guilty after due process would face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with the Public Service Rules and the agency's disciplinary procedures.

Bakare-Oki noted that both the Digital Centre's 3367 toll-free call service and the Physical Complaint Centre are key components of LASTMA's ongoing transformation programme aimed at promoting transparency, strengthening public trust, reinforcing accountability and improving communication with road users.

He urged motorists, commuters, transport operators, corporate organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to make responsible use of the agency's complaint and feedback channels, noting that active public participation remains vital to achieving safer roads, efficient traffic management and a more sustainable transportation system across Lagos State.
