South African actors Gugu Gumede and S'Dumo Mtshali, stars of Netflix's hit telenovela The Polygamist, are the latest guests on CNN International's African Voices, where they share insights into their acting careers, the challenges of the entertainment industry, and their advocacy for stronger protections for actors.

Cable News Network (CNN) International's flagship programme, African Voices, sponsored by digital telecommunications company Globacom, this week features acclaimed South African actors Gugu Gumede and S'Dumo Mtshali, stars of Netflix's popular telenovela The Polygamist.

Hosted by CNN anchor Larry Madowo, the special episode offers viewers an intimate conversation with the two actors as they reflect on their journeys in the entertainment industry, discuss the realities of fame, the challenge of being typecast, and their campaign for improved welfare and protections for actors.

The Polygamist, a 22-episode telenovela, tells the story of a cheating husband whose actions unexpectedly draw his family into a polygamous relationship, setting off a series of betrayals, conflicts, and emotional turmoil that ultimately shatter a once-happy marriage.

Gumede, 34, portrays Joyce Gomora in the series. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, she has built an impressive acting career with notable roles as Mandisa in Generations and Mamlambo, the prophetess in Uzalo, South Africa's most-watched television drama.

Her co-star, 43-year-old S'Dumo Mtshali, plays Jonasi Gomora. He rose to prominence after winning SABC1's Class Act talent competition in 2010 before landing his first leading role in Intersexions. His acting portfolio also includes Inside Story, Avenged, iNumber Number: Jozi Gold, Back of the Moon, and The 4 of Us.

The special double-feature episode premieres on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. on DStv Channel 401, with repeat broadcasts scheduled for 11:00 a.m. the same day, Sunday at 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday at 3:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., and Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.

Additional repeat broadcasts will air the following week on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., Sunday at 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Monday at 3:00 a.m.
