 Remo Secondary School Holds Historic University-Style Graduation for Class of 2026, Awards Scholarships to 25 Students

Remo Secondary School (RSS), Sagamu, Ogun State, has set a new benchmark for public secondary education by hosting a university-style graduation ceremony for its 2026 graduating class, with students, teachers and alumni adorned in academic regalia as about 25 outstanding students received full tertiary education scholarships.

Remo Secondary School (RSS), Sagamu, Ogun State, has recorded a historic milestone with the graduation of its 2026 class through what is believed to be the school's first university-style valedictory service.

The colourful ceremony attracted students, parents, teachers, school administrators, members of the Remo Secondary School Old Students' Association (RSSOSA), and other distinguished guests, who gathered to celebrate the graduating students in an atmosphere reminiscent of a university convocation.

In a departure from the traditional valedictory service common in public secondary schools, the graduating students appeared in academic gowns and caps, while the school's principal, teachers and the national executives of RSSOSA also wore academic regalia, giving the event the grandeur of a university graduation ceremony.

The initiative was designed not only to celebrate the completion of secondary education but also to inspire the graduating students as they prepare to pursue higher education and other future endeavours.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to students who distinguished themselves through exemplary character, discipline, leadership and moral conduct, in addition to academic excellence.

The event also featured the award of full tertiary education scholarships to about 25 deserving students by the Hope Bridge Social Impact Foundation, providing financial support to enable them continue their education at higher institutions.

Speaking at the event, President of the Remo Secondary School Old Students' Association (RSSOSA), Sir Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, KOF, congratulated the graduating students and commended the school management, teachers and parents for their commitment to nurturing the students.

He also praised the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun for prioritising education through various interventions, particularly the Yellow Revolution initiative, which he said has contributed significantly to improving the learning environment across public schools in the state.

According to Emmanuelking, the governor's investments in education have positively impacted institutions such as Remo Secondary School, helping to strengthen the school's growth and reputation.

He equally acknowledged the contributions of the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, to the development of the education sector.

The event further underscored the enduring relationship between the school and its alumni, with members of RSSOSA reaffirming their commitment to supporting the institution's continued growth and development.

The groundbreaking graduation ceremony is expected to become one of the defining moments in the history of Remo Secondary School and could serve as a model for similar celebrations in public secondary schools across Ogun State and Nigeria.
