 The Enugu State Forest Guard has rescued an alleged kidnap victim and arrested four suspects during an intelligence-led operation in Ette Sector, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, in what authorities described as another significant breakthrough in the state's ongoing campaign against kidnapping and violent crime.

According to a statement signed electronically by the State Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, Dr. Akinbayo O. Olasoji, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) through the Corps' Public Relations Officer, Uliaga Geraldine Chiagozie, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence.

The statement disclosed that operatives acted swiftly after receiving reports that a young man, identified as Samson Eleje Abah, had allegedly been lured into a forest and abducted by suspected criminals, where he was unlawfully restrained.

The Forest Guard immediately launched a coordinated rescue mission and successfully secured the victim's release without injury.

During the operation, three suspects identified as Reuben Okwudili, Reuben Gebechukwu Chinoso and Reuben Emeka were arrested. They have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The statement added that intelligence gathered during the operation led to the arrest of a fourth suspect, John Agbo, said to be from Ofante Egberi in Kogi State. He is alleged to have travelled to the area to carry out ritual activities connected with the suspected kidnapping. He was also transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.

According to the Forest Guard, preliminary findings and consultations with community leaders revealed that residents had previously raised concerns over the alleged criminal activities of some of the suspects and had shared intelligence with security agencies.

Community leaders reportedly condemned the alleged criminal acts and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting security agencies through timely intelligence sharing. They also announced traditional sanctions against the family of the principal suspects in accordance with local customs while stressing that criminality would not be tolerated in the community.

The Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, Dr. Akinbayo O. Olasoji, commended the professionalism, courage and swift response of the operatives involved in the rescue mission.

He reaffirmed the Corps' commitment to protecting lives and property across Enugu State and urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, noting that community intelligence remains vital to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The Forest Guard further assured residents that it would sustain aggressive patrols, intelligence-driven operations and close collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven anywhere in Enugu State.
