 IGP Disu Decorates 13 New AIGs, 17 Commissioners of Police, Charges Them on Integrity and Leadership

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force with their new ranks, urging them to demonstrate integrity, humanity and exemplary leadership as they assume higher responsibilities in the service.

The colourful decoration ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, saw 13 officers formally decorated as Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 others as Commissioners of Police (CPs).

Addressing the officers, IGP Disu described their promotion as a recognition of years of dedicated, meritorious and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force, noting that their elevation also comes with greater responsibility in advancing effective policing across the country.

The police chief acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers throughout their careers, recalling the family events, birthdays and personal milestones many had missed in the course of duty. He also commended their families for their unwavering support and resilience, describing them as indispensable partners in the officers' professional journeys.

The IGP charged the newly promoted officers to lead with integrity, fairness and compassion, stressing that genuine concern for the welfare of personnel under their command would inspire loyalty and commitment.

He further urged them to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through professionalism and ethical conduct, while mentoring younger officers and setting standards worthy of emulation.

According to him, the newly decorated officers should wear their new ranks with humility as much as pride, assuring them of the Force's continued commitment to their welfare and career development.

The newly decorated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police are Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.

Those decorated as Commissioners of Police include Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Aremu Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Rita Oyintare Oki, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na'aliyu, Nurudeen A. Sabo, Tijani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Etaifo, Taiwo A. Adedeji, Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura and Zainab Audu Pembi.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Oyekachukwu Ibezim; APC Deputy National Woman Leader, Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, representing the state governor; Engr. Ken Ekwemigo, representing the Governor of Anambra State; His Royal Highness Clement Ikolo; Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche; and Brigadier-General K.C. Uwa.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare, professional development and operational readiness of its personnel as part of ongoing efforts to build a more accountable, efficient and people-oriented police institution.
