The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated 100 raincoats to the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance officers' operations during the rainy season, with Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, stressing that effective road safety is a critical pillar of security in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced its support for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) with the donation of 100 raincoats to officers of the Lagos Sector Command, as part of efforts to improve their welfare and operational efficiency during the rainy season.

Presenting the items during a working visit to the FRSC Sector Command in Ojodu, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, described road safety as an essential component of the state's security architecture.

According to him, every secure city is built on safe roads, noting that beyond traffic regulation and accident prevention, road safety agencies play strategic roles in emergency response, intelligence gathering, crime prevention and ensuring the smooth movement of people and goods.

Ogunsan commended the dedication of FRSC officers to protecting lives on Lagos roads, describing the Corps as a critical partner in the state's security ecosystem.

He said the LSSTF would continue its monthly inter-agency capacity-building programme through December before resuming in January, reaffirming the Fund's commitment to enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of security personnel across the state.

The LSSTF boss also urged the Corps to strengthen intelligence sharing with other security agencies, noting that FRSC personnel are strategically positioned to monitor activities on the state's highways.

"You see virtually every movement on our roads—the good, the bad and the ugly. That places the FRSC in a strategic position to support intelligence gathering. We want to work more closely with you to ensure that suspicious movements are promptly identified and shared because our collective goal is to keep Lagos safe and deny criminal elements any operating space," he said.

Ogunsan further encouraged the Lagos Sector Command to submit its operational requirements to the LSSTF, assuring the Corps that requests capable of improving service delivery would receive urgent consideration.

Responding, the Lagos Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their sustained support.

He said the Fund's interventions, including the provision of operational vehicles, officer training and the latest donation of raincoats, had significantly improved the command's operational capacity.

"The impact has been remarkable, and even our headquarters has recognised the difference these interventions have made," Hamzat said.

He also described the monthly LSSTF inter-agency training programme as transformative, noting that participating officers returned with improved professionalism and stronger collaboration with other security agencies.

Hamzat stressed that the FRSC's responsibilities extend beyond traffic management, revealing that the Corps regularly provides intelligence that has assisted the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies in tracking stolen vehicles, apprehending criminal suspects and uncovering fake vehicle registration plates.

He added that greater operational support and enhanced collaboration would further strengthen the Corps' contribution to securing Lagos.

The visit underscored the Lagos State Government's commitment, through the LSSTF, to strengthening collaboration among security agencies by investing in officer welfare, operational efficiency and intelligence-driven policing to safeguard lives and sustain public confidence across the state.
