 Oluremi Tinubu Promotes Nigeria's Tourism Potential, Seeks Stronger Nigeria-Qatar Partnership

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater investment in the country's tourism sector, describing it as a major source of employment and revenue, while urging young Nigerians to explore the nation's rich cultural and tourism assets.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has advocated increased promotion of Nigeria's tourism potential, saying the sector remains one of the country's strongest economic assets capable of generating employment and boosting national revenue.

She made the call on Tuesday while receiving the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, at the State House in Abuja.

Speaking during the meeting, the First Lady said Nigeria's vast tourism opportunities remain largely untapped and urged citizens, particularly young people, to take advantage of the country's diverse attractions, rich cultural heritage and hospitality.

"We have not really explored the nation optimally. Our tourism sector remains our strong point. It gives employment. Look at our food and culture. We are a friendly people," she said.

Senator Tinubu acknowledged the country's challenges but stressed that they are not unique to Nigeria, expressing confidence in the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address them.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing all he can. We are undaunted and indeed the nation will be great again," she stated.

The First Lady also commended Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, for her contributions to the development of African countries.

She expressed appreciation for the collaboration between Nigeria and the Qatari government, noting the positive impact of ongoing educational initiatives aimed at addressing the challenge of out-of-school children, based on feedback from the Federal Ministry of Education.

In his remarks, Ambassador Al-Hail said his perception of Nigeria changed after arriving in the country, noting that many of the negative narratives circulating on social media did not reflect the reality he encountered.

According to him, Nigeria is a beautiful country blessed with warm and welcoming people.

"Nigeria is not what we hear and see on social media. It is a beautiful country with wonderful people. I have been to Lagos, I have seen the beaches; it is a beautiful place," the ambassador said.

He pledged to strengthen diplomatic and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both nations.

During the visit, Ambassador Al-Hail presented a letter from Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirming the commitment to continued cooperation between both countries.
