The race for the ₦73 million grand prize on MasterChef Nigeria has narrowed to two contestants after fan favourite David was eliminated in an emotional semifinal episode. While Fads and Favy secured places in the grand finale, David left the competition with a fully sponsored professional culinary training and internship opportunity.

The MasterChef Nigeria semifinal delivered an emotional conclusion as David's journey in the competition came to an end, leaving Fads and Favy to battle for the coveted title and the ₦73 million grand prize.

The Top Three contestants faced what proved to be the defining challenge of the season, recreating a signature dish prepared by Chef Eros and Chef Stone with precision and technical excellence. With Favy's immunity advantage no longer in play, all three contestants competed on equal terms for a place in the finale.

Chef Stone urged the contestants to remain composed, reminding them that precision would determine the outcome of the challenge.

Fads emerged as the standout performer, impressing the judges with a technically accomplished dish that featured balanced flavours and refined presentation. Her effort earned her the Dish of the Day honour and the first spot in the grand finale.

Favy also secured her place in the final after presenting a dish that received favourable reviews for its flavour and composure under pressure.

David, however, struggled to meet the exacting standards of the challenge. Although he said he gave everything he had, the judges noted shortcomings in the texture of his risotto and the flavour of his duck, ultimately leading to his elimination.

The announcement sparked emotional scenes in the MasterChef kitchen as David reflected on his journey in the competition. Favy, overwhelmed by the moment, initially appeared unaware that she had also qualified for the final.

Despite his exit, David received a major boost to his culinary career. Recognising his passion and potential, the judges described him as "a diamond in the rough" and awarded him a fully sponsored six-month professional training programme at Chef Stone's Red Dish Culinary School, followed by a paid six-month internship at Chef Eros' Ile Eros restaurant.

The grand finale will see Fads and Favy compete head-to-head for the MasterChef Nigeria title and the life-changing ₦73 million prize.
