The race to the grand finale of MasterChef Nigeria has intensified after contestant Isabella was eliminated in a dramatic quarter-final episode, leaving David, Fads and Favy as the competition's final three home cooks.

The latest episode, themed around spices—the heart of Nigerian cuisine—challenged contestants to create MasterChef-worthy dishes that showcased their chosen spices as the star ingredient. With only three semi-final places available, the stakes were at their highest.

Adding to the tension was Favy's immunity pin, which she had carried throughout the competition. The quarter-final marked her final opportunity to use the advantage, and she initially chose to compete rather than activate it.

Midway through the challenge, the judges introduced an unexpected twist, requiring contestants to prepare an additional dish—either sweet or savoury—with spices once again taking centre stage. The surprise challenge came with an extra 30 minutes, significantly raising the pressure in the kitchen.

The twist unsettled several contestants, particularly Fads, who had previously survived multiple appearances in the bottom group and faced another crucial test under intense time pressure.

With only five minutes remaining, Favy made a decisive move by activating her immunity pin, guaranteeing her place in the semi-final and leaving David, Isabella and Fads to battle for the remaining two spots.

At the judging table, Isabella's rice pudding failed to impress. The judges remarked that the dish did not resemble a rice pudding "in any way, shape or form," while Chef Eros delivered a stern verdict, describing it as unworthy of a semi-final place.

David, however, received high praise from the judges, with both of his dishes earning positive reviews. His strong performance secured him the coveted Dish of the Day title.

Fads also faced scrutiny, as the judges acknowledged that her dishes were well presented but questioned whether they demonstrated the level of creativity and ambition expected at this advanced stage of the competition.

Following deliberations, Isabella and Fads were named the bottom two contestants. Ultimately, Isabella's journey in the competition came to an end.

Reflecting on her exit, Isabella said she was grateful for the experience and the valuable lessons she had learned throughout the competition.

With her elimination, the MasterChef Nigeria semi-final lineup is now complete, featuring David, Fads and Favy.

The semi-final will see the remaining contestants replicate signature dishes created by Chef Eros and Chef Stone, with a place in the grand finale at stake.
