Progressive Group Youth Leader Commends Tinubu for Backing Gbajabiamila Amid Allegations, Endorses 2027 Second-Term Bid
The National Youth Leader of The Progressive Group, Waliu (Sola Better) Abdul, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for maintaining confidence in his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, amid recent allegations linking his name to the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), while reiterating the group's support for Tinubu's re-election in 2027.
The National Youth Leader of The Progressive Group, Waliu (Sola Better) Abdul, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the President's unwavering confidence in his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, despite recent allegations surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
In a statement titled "Gbajabiamila: The Shield That Stood Firm — A Thank You to President Tinubu for Standing By a Loyal Soldier," Abdul described the allegations against the Chief of Staff as politically motivated and aimed at undermining the Presidency.
He maintained that the Presidency had consistently denied the existence of the PFIPC and had distanced Gbajabiamila from claims linking him to the body. Abdul also referenced police investigations, which he said indicated that the signature attributed to the Chief of Staff on a disputed appointment letter was forged, while noting that an individual accused of operating under the PFIPC is facing criminal charges.
According to Abdul, the controversy was intended to damage the image of President Tinubu's administration by targeting one of the President's closest aides.
He praised Gbajabiamila for his loyalty to President Tinubu, stating that the Chief of Staff promptly alerted security agencies after fake appointment letters surfaced and publicly disowned those allegedly involved.
Abdul further argued that President Tinubu demonstrated confidence in Gbajabiamila by appointing him to chair the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill during the period of the controversy.
Describing the President as a leader who stands by loyal members of his team, Abdul said the appointment reflected Tinubu's trust in his Chief of Staff despite public criticism.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing legal process would ultimately clear Gbajabiamila of any wrongdoing and urged Nigerians to allow the courts to determine the matter.
Addressing young Nigerians, Abdul called on them to embrace loyalty, commitment and resilience, which he said were exemplified by Gbajabiamila's conduct throughout the controversy.
The Progressive Group leader also reaffirmed his organisation's support for President Tinubu's second-term ambition in 2027, arguing that the administration's economic reforms, infrastructure development, security initiatives and institutional reforms require continuity.
He urged Nigerians to support the President's re-election bid, describing it as essential for sustaining the administration's Renewed Hope agenda and ensuring policy continuity.
