Opinion: Asiwaju's Visionary Trust in Femi Gbajabiamila Is Paying Off for Nigeria, Says Progressives Group
The Progressives Group (TPG) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, describing the decision as a strategic move that has strengthened governance and enhanced the implementation of the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Progressives Group (TPG) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his foresight in appointing Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff to the President, arguing that the appointment has contributed significantly to the stability and effectiveness of the current administration.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its National Secretary, Comrade Shola Omolola, the group maintained that President Tinubu's confidence in the former Speaker of the House of Representatives has been justified by his performance since assuming office in June 2023.
According to the group, Gbajabiamila has played a central role in improving coordination within the Presidency by streamlining administrative processes, facilitating faster movement of official memos and reducing inter-agency friction.
TPG also credited the Chief of Staff with fostering cordial relations between the executive and the National Assembly. The group noted that Gbajabiamila's experience as a six-term member of the House of Representatives and former Speaker has helped promote smoother legislative engagement, contributing to the passage of key government initiatives, including annual appropriation bills, tax reform measures and amendments to the Student Loan Act.
The group further stated that Gbajabiamila's leadership of several presidential implementation committees has supported the rollout of flagship programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative and housing reform programmes.
Highlighting what it described as discipline and loyalty in the administration of the Office of the Chief of Staff, TPG said Gbajabiamila has maintained professionalism and focus while supporting the President's agenda.
The organisation also expressed appreciation to party members, supporters and other Nigerians who, it said, remained supportive of the Chief of Staff during recent public controversies involving his name.
Reaffirming its confidence in President Tinubu's leadership, the group urged Nigerians and other stakeholders to allow Gbajabiamila to continue discharging his responsibilities without unnecessary distractions.
The statement concluded that President Tinubu's decision to appoint Gbajabiamila has strengthened governance and positioned the administration to advance its policy objectives, describing the appointment as one that continues to yield positive outcomes for the country.
