 CIG Motors Donates 10 Vehicles Worth Over N300m to LSSTF, Boosts Lagos Security Operations

CIG Motors Group has donated 10 operational vehicles valued at more than N300 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to strengthen the mobility, logistics and rapid-response capabilities of security agencies across Lagos State.

The vehicles were formally handed over by the Chairman of CIG Motors Group, Chief Diana Chen, to the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, during a ceremony at the company’s international headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The donated fleet comprises four Wuling N111 vehicles, three Wuling XC250 vehicles and three JMC Vigus pickup trucks. The vehicles are expected to support field deployment, emergency response, logistics and other security operations across the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ogunsan commended Chen and CIG Motors for their sustained support for Lagos State’s security architecture.

He described the intervention as a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the state and its security agenda, noting that LSSTF depends largely on contributions from individuals, businesses and corporate organisations to provide interventionist support to security agencies.

“Madam, we will not forget this in a long time. Generations will not forget it. Posterity will not forget it. Your name will be written in gold for taking this bold step,” Ogunsan said.

He assured CIG Motors that the vehicles would be properly maintained and deployed to achieve maximum operational impact, stressing that the donation represented an investment in the safety, security and prosperity of Lagos.

Ogunsan also pledged to promote CIG Motors as a responsible private-sector partner, joking that he would henceforth serve as the company’s “sales representative” in recognition of its contribution to the state’s security infrastructure.

In her remarks, Chen said security remained fundamental to economic growth and prosperity, stressing that a secure environment was essential for investment, business development and sustainable economic activity.

“Security is the first infrastructure of prosperity. Protecting Lagos means protecting lives, livelihoods, enterprise and the economic future of our nation,” she said.

Chen described Lagos as Nigeria’s commercial capital and one of Africa’s major economic centres, noting that its continued growth depends on an environment where residents, businesses and investors can operate safely.

She said the donation was part of CIG Motors’ broader commitment to supporting institutions responsible for protecting Lagos residents and businesses.

“CIG Motors is a long-term business and development partner to the Lagos State Government. Our investments in mobility, local vehicle assembly, employment, public transportation and security support reflect our commitment to the continued development of Lagos State,” Chen said.

The CIG Motors chairman added that supporting security was an investment in the future of Lagos, as improved security would enable businesses to grow, protect jobs and strengthen communities.

The latest donation builds on several security and humanitarian interventions by CIG Motors and the Chief Diana Chen Foundation.

In September 2020, CIG Motors donated five fully equipped Dongfeng security operational trucks to the LSSTF for deployment to the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Lagos State Taskforce.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Diana Chen Foundation also partnered with the Lagos State Government, donating 50,000 face masks, an ambulance and N20 million to support frontline security and healthcare interventions.

In August 2022, CIG Motors donated a new vehicle to the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. The company has also delivered 150 vehicles to the Dangote Group for use by the Nigeria Police Force.

Beyond security, CIG Motors has partnered with the Lagos State Government on transportation initiatives, including LAGRIDE, while investing in local automobile assembly, employment creation, driver empowerment and urban mobility.

CIG Motors is the exclusive distributor of GAC Motor, Wuling and JMC vehicles in Nigeria. The company said its operations are guided by the values of Character, Honesty, Open-Mindedness, Integrity, Creativity and Excellence.

Chen, who has more than two decades of experience in international trade and brand operations, has continued to lead the group’s investments and partnerships in Nigeria.
