NAOSNP Congratulates IGP Disu on 30th Wedding Anniversary, Commends Police Conduct in Osun Election

The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has congratulated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and his wife, Mrs. Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, on their 30th wedding anniversary.

In a statement signed by its National President, Mayor Oki O. Samson, the association described the milestone as a testament to the couple’s enduring partnership, discipline and commitment to family.

NAOSNP also commended Mrs. Disu, who serves as the National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), for her support for police officers and their families through the organisation’s welfare initiatives.

According to the association, the couple’s three decades of marriage have coincided with a policing career that has seen IGP Disu rise through the ranks to become Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police.

“Thirty years of marriage is no small feat, and we join well-wishers across the country in celebrating the IGP and his amiable wife on this golden occasion,” Mayor Samson said.

The association further praised IGP Disu for what it described as his contribution to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s security reform agenda, particularly through his emphasis on intelligence-led, community-oriented and welfare-driven policing.

NAOSNP said the IGP’s approach was consistent with the policing model for which he was known during his years in the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS), where he earned recognition for community-focused policing.

The group also commended the Nigeria Police Force for its conduct during the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

It noted that the Police deployed personnel, mobile units, air and drone surveillance across the state, while also engaging civil society organisations ahead of the poll as part of efforts to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

NAOSNP said the largely peaceful conduct of the election and the professional deployment of security personnel demonstrated the importance of neutrality and professionalism in election security.

“Osun has once again proven that when the Police lead with professionalism and neutrality, Nigerians reward that conduct with confidence in the process,” Samson stated.

The association, however, acknowledged that isolated incidents occurred during the election but maintained that the overall security management of the poll was commendable.

NAOSNP expressed confidence that IGP Disu would continue to provide effective leadership to the Nigeria Police Force while wishing him and Mrs. Disu many more years of marital bliss, good health and fulfilment.

The association said the discipline, patience and partnership that have sustained their 30-year marriage would continue to serve as an example as the IGP carries out his responsibilities in securing the country.
