 Oyo APM Seeks Unity, Reconciliation Among 2027 Candidates

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State has called for greater unity, reconciliation and cooperation among its candidates and party leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The call was made at a strategic meeting convened by the party’s Apex Campaign Council and attended by the APM governorship candidate, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as party leaders and members of the campaign council.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration among candidates, resolving internal disagreements and developing a coordinated strategy aimed at securing victory for APM across Oyo State.

Speaking at the meeting, the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, urged candidates and party leaders to remain united and work collectively for the success of the party.

Lawal stressed the need for the party to present a common front, maintain discipline and take its campaign to the grassroots, noting that victory would depend largely on effective cooperation among candidates and party structures.

“The task ahead requires unity, commitment and genuine teamwork. If we are determined to win, every candidate must support one another and ensure that our message gets to the people across all the wards and local governments of Oyo State,” he said.

The Director-General of the APM Campaign Council, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, said the council’s mandate extended beyond the governorship election to include the election of all APM candidates contesting National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats.

Adeniran also disclosed that the council would mobilise support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition in Oyo State, urging candidates and party members to work together towards achieving the objective.

He called on the candidates to take the party’s message to every part of the state, stressing that APM’s logo, candidates and campaign message must reach households across the 33 local government areas.

The campaign council DG further urged members to pursue genuine reconciliation, asking candidates to return to their respective constituencies and resolve lingering disagreements.

He cautioned against unnecessary political battles and encouraged members to bring what he described as the “God-factor” into their political engagements.

Adeniran also highlighted the importance of party discipline, branding, mobilisation and the availability of campaign souvenirs, announcing plans to hold reconciliation meetings across the three senatorial districts.

The APM State Chairman, Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi, similarly appealed to candidates and members to work “hand in hand” towards achieving the party’s objectives.

The Alliance Party Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, described Governor Seyi Makinde as a pillar of hope in Oyo State and called for greater cooperation among the various political actors.

In his remarks, the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, appreciated the party leadership and campaign council, saying the achievements of Governor Makinde had provided a strong basis for the party’s campaign.

Adekanmbi urged party members to take the campaign message to the people and work for the success of Governor Makinde and all APM candidates in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Ambassador Ajadi, Hon. Sikiru Sanda acknowledged the guidance of the party leadership and pledged to prioritise the resolutions and advice from the meeting.

Representing the State House of Assembly candidates, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola appreciated the campaign council and party leaders, assuring that areas of concern would be addressed as the candidates work together towards victory.

Hon. Najeem Oyesina, popularly known as Oshine, also thanked Governor Makinde, the Deputy Governor, the campaign council DG and other party leaders for providing the platform, promising stronger collaboration among the candidates.

The meeting ended with optimism that improved coordination, reconciliation and collective campaigning would enhance the party’s prospects across the various elective positions in the 2027 elections.

Those in attendance included the Deputy Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign, Hon. Saheed Arowosaye; Deputy Director-General, Oyo North, Hon. Siju Lawal; DDG, Oyo South, Hon. Ademola Ojo; DDG, Oyo Central, Dr. Femi Ojo; Director of Women Mobilisation, Hon. Ramota Agberemi Dabo; and Director of Youth Mobilisation, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, among others.
