Polaris Bank Hosts Employees’ Children for Workplace Discovery, Financial Literacy
LAGOS, Nigeria — August 13, 2026: Polaris Bank has hosted children of its employees to a day of fun, learning and workplace discovery as part of efforts to strengthen employee engagement and foster a family-friendly workplace culture.
The initiative, tagged “Bring Your Child to Work,” welcomed children aged six and above, giving them an opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace, meet colleagues and gain insight into their parents’ professional responsibilities.
The children, selected through an internal trivia draw among staff, participated in activities focused on creativity, teamwork, networking, learning and curiosity.
A major highlight was a guided tour of the bank’s premises, including the banking hall and various departments. The tour provided the children with firsthand exposure to the banking environment and helped them understand how different teams and functions contribute to the operations of a financial institution.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank, Kayode Lawal, welcomed the children and urged them to make the most of the experience.
He said work goes beyond meetings and desks, describing it as an avenue for solving problems, helping people, learning and making meaningful contributions to society.
“Be curious, ask questions, learn, and most importantly, have fun,” Lawal told the children.
The CEO, who was represented by the Head of Human Resources, Okanwaju Oyekunle, said the programme was designed to give the children a better understanding of their parents’ professional lives while exposing them to different career possibilities.
He encouraged the children to remain open-minded about their future careers, noting that they could become bankers, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, technology experts or leaders of major organisations.
Another key feature of the programme was an interactive session led by the bank’s Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, who introduced the children to basic banking concepts in a simple and engaging manner.
The children learnt about how banks operate, the importance of saving and responsible financial habits, as well as the role financial institutions play in helping individuals and businesses manage their finances.
The session also provided an opportunity for the children to ask questions and share their understanding of the lessons.
Beyond the educational activities, the programme encouraged the participants to interact, make new friends and share what they had learnt about the banking environment.
For the participating parents, the initiative offered an opportunity to give their children a glimpse into an important aspect of their daily lives while teaching them values such as responsibility, collaboration, service and commitment.
Polaris Bank said the programme reflected its continued focus on employee wellbeing and engagement, recognising the connection between employees’ professional and family lives.
By creating opportunities for employees to share their workplace experiences with their families, the bank said it was reinforcing an inclusive and people-focused culture in which employees and their families feel valued and connected.
For the children, the experience provided more than a visit to their parents’ workplace, offering them an opportunity to explore the world of banking, develop financial awareness, ask questions, build friendships and see their parents from a different professional perspective.
