Police Clear AIG Moshood Jimoh in Ajiran Murder Case, Say Matter Before Court

The Nigeria Police Force has cleared the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, of allegations linked to the Ajiran murder case, stating that the matter has already been investigated, charged to court, and should now be determined by the judiciary.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has absolved the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, of allegations made against him in connection with the Ajiran murder case, insisting that the matter is now before a competent court for adjudication.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 4, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Police said the criminal case involving the allegations had been thoroughly investigated and subsequently charged to court following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The statement was issued in response to recent allegations made on social media by activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, against the senior police officer.

According to the Force, the case is now sub judice and, as such, should be determined by the court rather than through public commentary.

The Police further disclosed that, in line with established internal procedures, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) invited AIG Moshood Jimoh for questioning over the allegations.

Following a review of the case, the Force said there was no basis for any further administrative action against the officer and directed that the judicial process should continue without interference.

The statement also revealed that on July 30, 2026, the Force CID Headquarters in Abuja invited VeryDarkMan to appear before investigators and present evidence in support of the allegations he made publicly.

Reaffirming its commitment to accountability and the rule of law, the Nigeria Police Force stressed that all its officers remain subject to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Police Act 2020, and the Force Orders, adding that no officer is above the law.

The Force urged VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation extended to him and allow both the administrative and judicial processes to take their lawful course.
