Relief in Sight as Benson, Aroyewun Inspect Ongoing Sen. Ogunlewe Road Project in Igbogbo

IGBOGBO, LAGOS — Residents of Apalura and Selewu communities in Igbogbo, Lagos State, are set to enjoy improved access and greater economic opportunities as construction progresses on the Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe Road.

The project received further attention on Thursday, August 20, 2026, when the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, joined the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, on an inspection tour of the ongoing road construction.

The inspection was aimed at assessing the level of work completed, engaging contractors on site and ensuring that the project maintains the required quality and delivery standards.

The road, located in the densely populated Apalura and Selewu axis of Igbogbo, is being facilitated by Benson as part of efforts to improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic activities within the communities.

For years, residents in the area have faced difficult terrain and poor road conditions, particularly during the rainy season. The situation has affected mobility, commercial activities and the general socio-economic development of the communities.

Speaking during the inspection, Aroyewun described the project as a practical demonstration of the benefits of collaboration between the National Assembly and the local council administration.

He said infrastructural development remained a major component of his administration’s GLORY Agenda, which stands for Good Governance, Learning, Optimal Wellness, Roads, and Youth and Sports.

The council chairman commended Benson for his efforts in attracting federal interventions to complement development initiatives being undertaken by the council.

Benson, in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach communities across the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

He said the Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe Road was one of several projects he had facilitated in IBLCDA and expressed confidence in the pace of construction.

The lawmaker also pledged continued oversight of the project to ensure its completion in line with agreed standards.

When completed, the road is expected to improve accessibility, reduce transportation difficulties, support commercial activities and contribute to the broader socio-economic development of Apalura, Selewu and surrounding communities.

The development also highlights ongoing collaboration between different levels of government in delivering infrastructure projects aimed at improving living conditions and unlocking economic opportunities for residents.
