Fidelity Bank Promotes 433 Employees, Rewards 13% of Workforce in 2026 Exercise
Fidelity Bank Plc has promoted 433 employees, representing approximately 13 per cent of its workforce, under its 2026 Promotion and Notch Award Exercise, as the financial institution strengthens its performance-driven culture and leadership pipeline.
The latest promotion exercise marks an increase in the proportion of employees rewarded compared with previous years. In 2025, 376 employees, representing 12 per cent of the workforce, were promoted, while 337 employees, or 11 per cent, benefited from the exercise in 2024.
According to the bank, the annual initiative underscores its commitment to recognising excellence, rewarding outstanding performance and creating opportunities for career progression across the organisation.
Since the appointment of Nneka Onyeali Ikpe as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank has sustained annual promotion exercises aimed at recognising employee contributions, strengthening institutional capacity and developing a robust pipeline of future leaders.
Beyond career advancement, the bank said it has continued to implement measures targeted at improving employee welfare, productivity, workplace satisfaction and overall wellbeing.
Fidelity Bank noted that it increased salaries across all categories and grade levels in 2022, 2024 and 2025, while also introducing staff buses to ease commuting challenges and enhancing medical support for employees.
The financial institution has further expanded its learning and development programmes and strengthened initiatives focused on professional certification, continuous upskilling and career development.
As part of its employee home-ownership initiatives, the bank also extended its mortgage loan and home ownership scheme to employees from Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager cadres, while increasing applicable mortgage limits for eligible staff in line with prevailing market realities.
The initiative, according to the bank, makes it one of the few institutions in the country offering mortgage support to employees below the Manager cadre.
Fidelity Bank has also maintained programmes designed to promote employee engagement, collaboration and work-life balance, reinforcing its broader strategy of building a motivated, skilled and future-ready workforce.
The bank said the 2026 promotion exercise forms part of its wider people strategy to attract, develop, reward and retain high-performing talent by recognising discipline, professionalism, innovation, customer focus and sustained performance.
The strategy is also aimed at preparing employees for increased responsibilities while strengthening the bank's position as an employer of choice within Nigeria's financial services sector.
Fidelity Bank has received recognition from various local and international institutions for its banking, innovation and development initiatives.
Among its recent recognitions are the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support; Best Retail and SME Bank Award from Independent Newspapers; Best Bank for Export & Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards; and Nigeria's Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards.
The bank also received the inaugural Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year award from Nairametrics, the SME Bank of the Year award from NewsDirect and the Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award from Citi Group.
In addition, Fidelity Bank was recognised by Global Brands Magazine for Excellence in Community Empowerment.
