Interswitch Connects Education Portal Providers to Strengthen Digital Payment Collection

IBADAN — Interswitch has brought together education technology partners and portal providers across Southwest Nigeria to explore ways of improving digital payment collection, operational efficiency and payment experiences within the country’s education sector.

The engagement, held at Signature Hotel, Ibadan, was organised under the inaugural Interswitch Connect: Portal Providers Edition, a stakeholder forum designed to foster collaboration between Interswitch and providers of digital platforms used by schools and educational institutions.

The forum focused on the evolving payment needs of schools and education platforms, with participants examining practical approaches to addressing challenges associated with fee collection and other education-related payments.

As schools increasingly adopt digital platforms for admissions, school management and fee collection, stakeholders at the event discussed the importance of reliable, secure and efficient payment infrastructure in supporting the administration of modern educational institutions.

The participants also explored how closer collaboration between payment service providers and education technology companies could help simplify payment processes, improve operational efficiency and deliver more seamless experiences for schools, parents and students.

Speaking at the event, Head of Digital Payments at Interswitch, Blessing Ogbonna, said the initiative reflects the company's commitment to developing payment solutions that address the changing needs of the education sector.

“Education is one of the sectors where seamless, reliable and secure digital payment solutions can make a significant difference,” Ogbonna said.

She added that Interswitch Connect provides an opportunity for the company to engage directly with portal providers, understand their evolving requirements and collaborate on solutions that can strengthen payment collection across schools and education platforms.

According to her, sustained collaboration among stakeholders remains important to developing payment solutions that create value for educational institutions and the wider communities they serve.

The engagement also highlighted the need for continuous dialogue among payment providers, education technology companies and institutions as digital payment systems continue to evolve.

Stakeholders noted that stronger collaboration could help address emerging operational challenges, improve payment experiences and support greater efficiency in the administration of schools and other educational institutions.

The inaugural Interswitch Connect: Portal Providers Edition is part of Interswitch’s broader focus on supporting digital transformation through collaboration, innovation and customer-focused payment solutions.

Through initiatives that facilitate knowledge sharing and direct engagement with ecosystem partners, the company said it remains committed to supporting more efficient, secure and inclusive digital payment experiences within Nigeria’s education sector.
