2023 Election:Funke Akindele Suspends Her Acting Career

Ikorodu town went agog today as the Lagos for Lagos movement and the  Governorship aspirant for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Babajide Adediran a.k. a. Jandor came into town for the unveiling of  his deputy governorship candidate Funke Akindele, Funke who is a film maker, producer and script writer express her joy for the party counting her worthy to represent the youth and women in the state and representing Ikorodu as a whole.

Jandor in his speech said the youths are ready to take over the affairs of Lagos State, Lagos must be run by Lagosians. 

Confirming her deputy governorship candidacy on Tuesday, the actress stated that her acting career must be “necessarily put on hold”.

According to her, this was a sacrifice she had to make to “rescue” the people of Lagos State.

The actress said, “I am not unaware of the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career, which I must now necessarily put on hold.

“It’s a huge personal sacrifice. My resolve is that no sacrifice is too huge for the actualisation of the urgent mission to rescue our people and our dear state.”

Speaking on her reason for accepting the role, Akindele said, “I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the wellbeing of our people, particularly the deprived youth, women and the girl child.

“My decision is not just to accept this huge responsibility but to also work tirelessly and complement Jandor’s burning desire to see our dear Lagos live up to its full potential.”

Youths are been ignored victimised for daring to have a dream so I use this opportunity to call out all well-meaning residents of the nation, especially the youths. It’s indeed time to use our numerical strength to our full advantage and time to rally ourselves and support our own.

“It is a call I take with reverence and utmost sense of responsibility. Indeed we can achieve a Lagos for all our residents.

Lagos State PDP chairman notes that they are ready to stand by those who has been shielded for years, that is why they are unveiling Jandor and Funke Akindele, Ikorodu too should produce a candidate at the top, they have come to shine a light at Ikorodu and by the grace of God the light won't be truncated.
