UAC Addresses Allegations Surrounding FIJ Reporter's Abduction

The United Action for Change (UAC) has responded to recent allegations regarding the abduction of a reporter associated with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).

In a statement released on their website, UAC clarified their position as a distinct entity from their convener, Dr. Muiz A. Banire, OON, SAN, emphasizing that any mention of UAC within the context of Dr. Banire is misleading and unwarranted.

UAC reiterated its commitment to justice and equality in Nigeria, denouncing cyberbullying as a societal menace. The group acknowledged the legal responsibilities of Dr. Banire as a practicing lawyer, including representing clients and making representations to appropriate regulatory bodies.

Addressing the allegations of cyberbullying, UAC emphasized the importance of reporting such conduct to the authorities for investigation, highlighting the dangers of cyberbullying in society.

Furthermore, UAC expressed concern over FIJ's publication, labeling it as another form of cyberbullying and urging FIJ to reconsider its approach for the greater good of society.

Finally, UAC criticized FIJ for not disclosing that the alleged petition was written on behalf of a client, questioning the motives behind the petition and defending the actions of Mr. Daniel Ojukwu.
