Mayor Olowa and Mayor Fuad Advocate Citizen Involvement in Politics at GDLF Summit
The Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and his counterpart from Ikoyi Obalende, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, showcased their leadership prowess at the Global Leadership Development Forum (GDLF) Summit, urging citizens to actively engage in politics.
As special guests at the event themed "Understanding Local Government Administration and Operations," organized by the GDLF in collaboration with the governance and politics hub of the Elevation Church, both mayors emphasized the significance of Local Government Administration as the closest governance structure to the people.
Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa elucidated the core principles guiding his administration, focusing on Infrastructural Development, Local Economy, Social Development, Security, and environmental sustainability. He also highlighted achievements in education, agriculture, social investments, and increased Internal Generated Revenue (IGR).

Hon. Fuad Atanda Lawal emphasized the pivotal role of Internally Generated Revenue in driving Local Government Administration. He rallied for widespread citizen participation in politics, citing it as a catalyst for innovation and development.
The summit featured engaging sessions with representatives from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), BudgIT, and local legislative councils, discussing governance and accountability.
Mr. Oyebolaji Falase, Executive Director of GDLF, urged attendees to actively engage in governance instead of assigning blame, fostering a culture of accountability and participation.
The presence of key figures like the SSA on Environment to the Governor, Mrs. Tari Taylor, and Mrs. Yemisi Ransome-Kuti underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in driving societal development.
