Suspected Cultists Arrested, Firearms Recovered in Ogun State

LAGOS – In a significant breakthrough, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan Lagos, under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatoye Durosinmi, have apprehended two suspected cultists and recovered multiple firearms.

The primary suspect, Shokoti Roborth, a known cross-border gunrunner, was arrested in Atan, Ogun State, following intelligence reports on his criminal activities. During the operation, detectives from the Zonal Strike Force recovered two newly manufactured locally made pistols from Roborth's handbag. A subsequent search of his residence in Atan Township led to the discovery of two additional pistols of similar make.

Roborth confessed to being a member of the EIYE Confraternity, a notorious cult group. He admitted to smuggling and selling small arms from Benin Republic into Nigeria, supplying these weapons to fellow cult members.

Further investigations based on Roborth's confession led to the arrest of Ojelade Yusuf, who was found in possession of a pump-action gun. Yusuf claimed he bought the firearm from an absconding friend and also admitted to being a member of the EIYE Confraternity.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly upon its completion.
