Lagos State Commences Six-Week Mandatory Training for Law Enforcement Officers

Lagos State Training Institute (LETI) has launched a comprehensive six-week mandatory training program for over 5,000 law enforcement officers from various agencies. The program, which began on July 25, 2024, is designed to enhance professionalism, efficiency, and public service delivery within the state's law enforcement sector.

The first batch includes 450 officers from Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and the Central Business District (CBD). The training covers a wide range of topics, such as:

- Human Rights and Law Enforcement

- Traffic Management and Control

- Public Order Management

- Conflict Resolution and De-escalation

- Modern Policing Techniques

- Community Engagement and Public Relations/Interpersonal Relations

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Abiola Adeyinka, CEO and Head of LETI, stressed the importance of continuous professional development for law enforcement officers. She stated, "This training program is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that our law officers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively serve and protect the citizens of Lagos State. We are confident that this training will significantly enhance their professionalism and contribute to a safer and more secure environment for all."

The program is being held at Ikeja Senior Grammar School, Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, and features experienced trainers from both within and outside the law enforcement sector.
