Hon. Olowa Launches Free Health Scheme for 1,000 Ibeju-Lekki Residents under Eko Social Health Alliance

In a significant move to provide accessible healthcare, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, has launched the Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) scheme, enrolling 1,000 residents for free healthcare services. The program, part of the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, aims to deliver essential health services at no cost to beneficiaries, focusing on those at the grassroots level who may struggle to afford quality care.

During the launch, Hon. Olowa emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure basic healthcare, especially in underserved communities, to prevent avoidable health crises. "This health scheme is crafted to meet the needs of our residents with affordable options, enabling them to access comprehensive care," he stated. "Through this initiative, 1,000 residents in Ibeju-Lekki will now have free enrollment, with costs fully covered."

Mrs. Mojisola Ojo, field officer for Ibeju-Lekki, briefed attendees on the registration process, noting that residents can select their preferred health centers. The scheme’s coverage includes a range of services such as eye treatment with free glasses, dental appointments, free Caesarean sections with postnatal care for 28 days, and tuberculosis treatment.

Hon. Olowa reaffirmed that quality healthcare is a top priority for his administration, highlighting that the scheme is intended to serve as a financial safety net in emergencies for eligible residents.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Tajudeen Sindiku Oniwonlu; Hon. Olusola Edalere; Hon. Hakeem Oluwole Balogun; Hon. Aliasau Dehinde; Hon. Wakilat Odupe; Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan; Hon. Alonge Fatai; and CDC Chairman, Comrade Jabita Adeboye, among other dignitaries.
