Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman Distributes 6000 Food Packs to Celebrate the Festive Season
The initiative kicked off at the Lakowe Secondary School in Lakowe, Ward E, and will extend across all seven wards within the local government area over three days, culminating on Monday, December 23rd, 2024. With over 6,000 food packs to be distributed, the program is a testament to the chairman's commitment to grassroots development and welfare.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Sesan Olowa expressed his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of the people of Ibeju-Lekki. "This initiative is aimed at bringing succor to our people. As a government closest to the grassroots, we believe it is our responsibility to give back to the community, especially during this festive season. With Christmas and New Year celebrations approaching, it is an ideal time to spread joy and show our people that we care deeply about their welfare," he said.
Hon. Olowa further explained that the distribution process was carefully structured to avoid overcrowding and ensure equitable access to the palliatives. "We cannot gather everyone in one location to avoid a stampede. That’s why we are distributing the food packs ward by ward to reach as many households as possible," he added.
Residents Appreciate the Gesture
The initiative has been met with gratitude and appreciation from the beneficiaries. Mrs. Gamat Ajao, a resident of Lakowe, described the food palliative as a timely blessing. "This is a wonderful gesture, especially during this period when many families are struggling. The food pack will go a long way in supporting my household," she said with a smile.
Similarly, Mr. Isaac, a member of the Community Development Association (CDA) in Lakowe, commended the chairman for his proactive leadership. "Hon. Olowa is a leader who genuinely cares about his people. Anytime there’s an issue, like flooding in our area, he personally inspects the situation and ensures it is resolved. This food distribution program is another example of his dedication to the community," he noted.
Pastor Jimoh Lateef of the Word of Life Bible Ministry also lauded the chairman’s efforts, emphasizing the relief the initiative brings to families in need. "Hon. Olowa has been a pillar of support to the people of Ibeju-Lekki. This program is a reflection of his good works. I pray he is re-elected for a second term so he can continue to serve the community with his exemplary leadership," the cleric said.
