LASTMA Rescues Five Injured in Mile 2-Badagry Expressway Accident

A serious traffic accident involving two commercial buses occurred on the Mile 2-Badagry Expressway at Iyana-Era, inward Agbara, leaving five passengers severely injured.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the accident involved a T4 commercial bus (registration number LSD 668 YE) and an LT commercial bus (registration number BDG 728 YE). Preliminary investigations revealed that the T4 bus was speeding toward Agbara when its brakes failed, resulting in a collision with the stationary LT bus, which was loading passengers at Iyana-Iba bus stop.

In a swift response, LASTMA officials successfully rescued five injured passengers—three males and two females. The victims were immediately transported to Eva-Life Hospital, located at Pako near Iyana-Era, for emergency medical care.

Security personnel from the Ijanikin Police Division assisted in managing the situation, ensuring safety at the scene and preventing further disruption to traffic flow.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the injured passengers and wished them a speedy recovery. He also used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly brake systems, urging drivers to conduct thorough checks before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos State.
