CP Olanrewaju Ishola Decorates Newly Promoted Officers in Lagos

With the mantra "to whom much is given, much is expected," the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, on Thursday led the decoration ceremony of newly promoted police officers under his command. The event, reported by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), was held at the Lagos Police Officers' Mess, GRA Ikeja.

The colorful and well-attended ceremony saw family, friends, and well-wishers celebrating alongside the newly elevated officers. High-ranking police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC Operations), DCP Fatai Tijani; DC SCID, DCP Lateef Ahmed; DC Administration, DCP Khan Salihu; ACP Mary Ayim; Area Commander Area C, ACP Ayoola Oladunni; Area Commander Area F, ACP Paul Azuka Okafor; and MOPOL 20 Commander, ACP Idris Abdullahi Abubakar, were among the dignitaries in attendance.


Prominent officers who rose from the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) include:

  • CSP Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye (DPO, Iponri Division)
  • CSP Omolola Opeifa (DPO, Ojo Division, formerly DPO Iba Division)
  • CSP Ayo Elijah (DPO, Man-Center Division)
  • CSP Segun Akintola Talabi (DPO, Isashi Division)
  • CSP Benjamin Hundeyin (PPRO, Lagos Command)
  • CSP Famous Cole Olarinde (DPO, Ago-Okota Division)
  • CSP Aduroja Akinola (Officer in Charge, Computer)
  • CSP Augustina Ikeh
  • CSP Hauwa Idris Adamu

In total, 50 Superintendents of Police were promoted to CSP, 22 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) advanced to SP, and 12 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) earned promotion to DSP.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, CSP Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, DPO of Iponri Division, expressed gratitude for the honor. She stated, “This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. These new ranks come with fresh responsibilities, and we trust that the good Lord will help us deliver credibly and excellently. On behalf of my colleagues, I extend our deepest appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Executive Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), and our dynamic CP, Olanrewaju Ishola, for their trust and confidence.”


CSP Ngbaronye, celebrated for her professionalism, intelligence, and passion for her duties, has consistently advocated for civility and excellence in policing.

The elevation of these officers is a testament to their dedication and hard work. As they take on new responsibilities, it is anticipated that their promotions will inspire even greater achievements and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
