First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Improving Lives as RHI Distributes Food Items in Edo State
The First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the government's commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through impactful policies and programs.
Speaking in Benin City, the Edo State capital, during the distribution of essential food items to vulnerable groups under RHI's Food Outreach Program, the First Lady, represented by the wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, Hajia Nana Shettima, emphasized the administration's dedication to alleviating hardship among Nigerians.

She revealed that the food supplies were made possible by the support of an anonymous donor and the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), who have committed to providing food items monthly for distribution to Nigerians through RHI.
“I am pleased to share with you all that since its inception in 2023, the Renewed Hope Initiative has made significant progress in supporting our people, particularly women and youth, towards building a better life for their families," she said.
The First Lady also highlighted RHI's five scopes of focus—Agriculture, Education, Economic Empowerment, Health, and Social Investment—which aim to complement the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's leadership. She assured beneficiaries of more impactful activities in 2025 while urging them not to sell the distributed food items but to use them to support their families.
Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her continuous support for vulnerable groups. He praised RHI's role in addressing the needs of citizens and pledged the state's support for the initiative and the administration of President Tinubu.
The Edo State RHI Coordinator, Mrs. Edesili Anani, assured attendees that the food items would reach the targeted beneficiaries across the state.
The Food Outreach Program, launched in March 2024 in Abuja, aims to provide essential food commodities to vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities. In December, the RHI Elderly Citizens Support Program benefited 250 elderly citizens in Edo State, each receiving ₦250,000, food items, and free health checks.
The RHI Food Outreach Scheme is set to continue in Kwara State next, followed by Kogi and Abia States, to extend similar distributions to other vulnerable groups.
