Governor Soludo Celebrates Chief Emeka Anyaoku at 92
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has extended warm congratulations to Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a distinguished elder statesman, on the occasion of his 92nd birthday, celebrated on January 18, 2025.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo described Chief Anyaoku as a globally acclaimed diplomat and an iconic figure who has brought pride to Nigeria through his illustrious career in international relations.
Chief Anyaoku, who hails from Obosi in Anambra State, served as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, where he championed democracy, human rights, and development across member states. His contributions to Nigeria’s foreign missions and the United Nations have left an indelible mark on global diplomacy.
Governor Soludo commended the elder statesman for his unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and good governance, which have resonated across Africa and beyond. He also praised Anyaoku’s leadership roles as the Vice-President of the Royal Commonwealth Society and his traditional titles as the Adazie of Obosi and Ugwumba of Idemili.
“Chief Anyaoku’s life and career serve as a timeless inspiration for generations. His selfless service, mentorship, and relentless contributions to Anambra and Nigeria at large remain an enduring legacy,” Soludo stated.
On behalf of the government and people of Anambra State, Governor Soludo wished Chief Anyaoku a happy 92nd birthday and many more years of good health, fulfillment, and impactful service.
