Joseph Tegbe, NCSP DG, Strengthens Nigeria-China Partnership Through Key Talks with Chinese Banks and Firms
The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Joseph Tegbe, has initiated high-level discussions with China EXIM Bank and China Development Bank to prioritize and fast-track the implementation of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) projects. The talks focused on exploring innovative funding options for the accelerated delivery of key initiatives under the 2024 FOCAC framework.
As part of his mission in China, Tegbe and his delegation visited the headquarters of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) in Beijing. They also toured the company’s poultry farm, which produces a remarkable 2.5 million eggs daily, with the aim of replicating such a model in Nigeria. Discussions centered on leveraging innovative funding models, such as the partly contractor-financed approach used for the Lekki Deep Seaport project.
In addition, Tegbe held strategic meetings with Lin Yifu, a globally renowned economist and former Director of the World Bank. Lin pledged his support in helping the NCSP drive key policy reforms and attract significant Chinese investments to Nigeria.
The delegation also engaged with TBEA, a leading company in power transmission and transformation, during a visit to Xinjiang. Talks focused on high-priority opportunities in supergrid infrastructure and investments in mini- and microgrid solutions to address Nigeria's energy challenges.
The delegation is set to continue its engagements in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, meeting with companies involved in FOCAC projects to ensure speedy implementation and deeper cooperation.
This initiative underscores Nigeria's commitment to leveraging its strategic partnership with China to drive economic growth and infrastructure development.
