IGP Egbetokun Visits Enugu, Reaffirms Commitment to Security and Collaboration

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, arrived in Enugu State on January 3, 2025, for a two-day official visit focused on bolstering security and fostering collaboration with stakeholders in the region.

Accompanied by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the South-East, DIG Frank Mba, mni; AIG Zone 13, AIG Godwin N. Aghaulor; AIG FCID Annex Enugu, AIG Kwazhi Bzigu Dali, mni; and the Commissioners of Police for Enugu and Anambra States, the IGP’s visit underscores his commitment to ensuring peace and security in the South-East.

During his visit, the IGP paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter N. Mbah, at the Government House. Discussions between the IGP and the Governor centered on enhancing the state's security architecture and safeguarding lives and property. The IGP assured the Governor of the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to maintaining peace and security in the state and beyond.

The IGP also met with the Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, led by its Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asabo. The meeting highlighted the critical role of traditional institutions in community-based security initiatives. The IGP called for their continued collaboration in addressing the state's security challenges, emphasizing the importance of grassroots support in achieving lasting peace.

Addressing police officers in the state, the IGP stressed the importance of discipline, professionalism, and empathy in their daily interactions with citizens. He reminded officers of their duty to uphold decency and professionalism while discharging their lawful responsibilities.

The visit reflects the IGP’s dedication to community-oriented policing, which prioritizes trust-building, stakeholder engagement, and proactive crime prevention measures.

The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property while fostering peace, stability, and development across the nation.
