Security Stakeholders Approve Four Checkpoints Along Seme Border Corridor
Lagos, 14th January 2025 – The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 2 Command, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, convened a crucial security meeting today with stakeholders to address concerns about the proliferation of checkpoints along the Seme Border Corridor.
Held at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, the meeting included representatives from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigeria Police Force. The discussion focused on reducing the excessive number of checkpoints, restoring order, and fostering economic growth along the corridor.
A unanimous resolution was reached to establish a joint task force composed of officers from all the security agencies. The task force will ensure strict compliance with the agreed number of checkpoints, limited to four strategic locations:
- Seme Point
- Gbaji Point
- Apa Point
- Agbara Point
These designated checkpoints aim to enhance security, streamline operations, and promote synergy among security agencies, while minimizing the disruption to economic activities in the area.
