CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh Takes Over as Lagos Police Commissioner, Vows to Build on Predecessor's Legacy

Lagos, Nigeria – February 18, 2025 – The newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohudare Moshood Jimoh, has officially assumed office, pledging to enhance security measures and reinforce collaboration with stakeholders to maintain law and order in the state.

Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, CP Jimoh expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve. He assured Lagosians of a crime-free and safer environment under his leadership.

Commitment to Strengthening Security

Acknowledging the efforts of his predecessor, CP Jimoh affirmed that crime levels in Lagos are manageable and vowed to build on existing security strategies. He emphasized that his administration would work closely with the state government, corporate entities, traditional rulers, and the public to bolster safety and reduce crime rates.

“The police under my command will work tirelessly to protect lives, properties, and investments, ensuring that Lagos remains a conducive environment for residents and businesses,” he stated.

Collaboration With Security Agencies

CP Jimoh highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, pledging to sustain and strengthen partnerships with other security agencies to develop unified strategies for crime prevention and management. He assured that his leadership would prioritize intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime-fighting approaches.

“Our collective commitment will ensure a more secure and peaceful Lagos for all,” he added.

Zero Tolerance for Crime and Corruption

Outlining his crime-fighting agenda, the new police commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to combat violent crimes, robbery, cultism, and other criminal activities. He issued a stern warning to criminals, urging them to abandon their illicit activities or leave Lagos, stating that the state would be made too hostile for criminals to operate.

“Crime will not be tolerated in any form. We will intensify our crackdown on cultism, traffic robberies, and other violent crimes. Over 50 suspected cultists have already been prosecuted, and we will not relent in our efforts,” CP Jimoh declared.

Human Rights and Ethical Policing

Emphasizing professionalism, CP Jimoh assured the public that human rights abuses would not be tolerated under his leadership. He instructed officers to be civil, courteous, and firm while discharging their duties, urging Lagosians to respect law enforcement personnel.

“The Command will uphold the zero-tolerance policy of the Inspector General of Police against corruption and misconduct. Officers who violate ethical standards will face disciplinary actions,” he stressed.
