IGP Presents Insurance Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers, Launches Claims Management Portal 
In a significant move to support the families of fallen police officers, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, today, February 18, 2025, presented insurance benefit cheques to the next of kin of 706 deceased officers. He also unveiled the Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal (npfinsuranceclaimsmgt.ng) at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.  

The event, attended by members of the Force Management Team, senior police officers, insurance industry stakeholders, and beneficiaries, underscored the IGP’s commitment to improving the welfare of police personnel and their families.  

Clearing Insurance Backlogs and Supporting Families 

Addressing the audience, IGP Egbetokun highlighted the Force’s sustained efforts to clear outstanding insurance claims that had accumulated between 2010 and 2023. He revealed that so far, benefits amounting to **₦17.8 billion** have been disbursed to **6,465 beneficiaries** in eight phases. With today’s disbursement of an additional **₦2.99 billion** to **706 families**, covering policy years **2020–2024**, the total insurance benefits paid now stand at **₦20.84 billion**, benefiting **7,171 families**.  
A Digital Solution for Faster Claims Processing 

As part of ongoing reforms, the IGP officially launched the **Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal**, a digital platform designed to **streamline the claims process, eliminate delays, and improve transparency**. The portal will ensure that officers' families can access their rightful benefits without unnecessary bottlenecks.  

To further enhance efficiency, a **specialized training program** has been introduced for **Insurance Desk Officers** across **17 Zonal Commands and 37 State Commands**. This initiative aims to strengthen claims management and service delivery.  

Commitment to Officers’ Welfare

IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to providing financial relief for families of fallen officers while also prioritizing the welfare of serving and retired personnel.  
The Force reassured all officers and their families that it will continue working towards a more robust and transparent insurance system, ensuring that the sacrifices of police personnel do not go unrecognized.
