Nigeria Police Arrest Murder Suspect, Foil Robbery Attempts, Recover Weapons

LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to combat crime nationwide, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects, the recovery of dangerous weapons, and the prevention of violent crimes. These recent operations underscore the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while urging citizens to remain vigilant against evolving criminal tactics.

Lagos Police Nab Armed Suspect, Recover Pistol and Ammunition

In a proactive operation, officers from the Satellite Division of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended a suspect, Wisdom Obi, 24, on February 7, 2025, during a routine patrol at Abule Ado bus stop, along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Amuwo Odofin.

The suspect, who was riding an unregistered motorcycle, was found with a concealed brownie pistol and 13 rounds of live ammunition hidden inside an MP3 radio. He was immediately taken into custody, while the recovered items were documented as exhibits. Police have commenced a thorough investigation into the case.


Traffic Robbers Caught in the Act at Orile Iganmu

On the same day, police officers from the Orile Iganmu Division foiled a robbery attempt by a gang of four suspected traffic robbers. The suspects, identified as:

  • Kadir Ibrahim
  • Ifeanyin John
  • Oduwole Shola
  • Rilwan Olajuwon

were caught while attempting to rob passengers of a stranded vehicle at the Ascon White Sand area of Orile Iganmu. They were promptly arrested and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

The police warned citizens to be cautious of criminals who disguise as traffic traders, taking advantage of unsuspecting individuals stuck in congested areas.

Murder Suspect Arrested After Deadly Confrontation in Ikoyi

Meanwhile, on February 5, 2025, a violent altercation at Falomo Square, Ikoyi, turned deadly after an argument between Okeke Johnchris, 33, and William Wisdom escalated.

According to reports, Okeke allegedly rammed his Lexus saloon car into William, inflicting severe injuries. The victim was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives visited the scene, and the deceased was taken to the IDH Morgue in Yaba for an autopsy. The suspect is currently in custody and will face legal proceedings following the conclusion of investigations.

Police Caution Against Violent Confrontations

The Nigeria Police Force has urged the public to seek legal redress rather than resorting to violence in conflicts. Citizens are advised to avoid taking the law into their own hands and instead follow due process through the appropriate legal channels.


The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to national security and crime prevention, assuring the public of continued efforts to ensure safety across the country.
