Soludo Applauds Ndi Anambra for Supporting New Security Initiatives
In a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, Governor Soludo expressed appreciation to communities and their leaders for partnering with the government in efforts to eliminate criminal activities. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that every part of the state remains safe and secure.
The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) also reassured traditional worshippers that the government’s fight against fetishism and sorcery is not a campaign against indigenous religious practices but rather an effort to crack down on individuals who exploit spiritual beliefs for fraudulent activities. The Council warned against the promotion of illegal charms, such as Oke-Ite and other fetish products, which are often linked to criminal activities.
Operation Udo Ga-Achi Gains Momentum
The Operation Udo Ga-Achi (meaning "peace shall reign") security initiative, launched in January, is now fully operational and delivering significant results. The task force, working alongside existing law enforcement agencies, has intensified efforts to track down and neutralize criminal elements terrorizing the state.
Authorities have successfully arrested kidnappers and criminals in several locations, including Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi, with hideouts demolished as part of the crackdown. Notably, suspects linked to the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency I, have also been apprehended.
Furthermore, security operations have led to the liberation of eight Local Government Areas—Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ogbaru—previously under siege by criminal elements before Governor Soludo’s administration took office.
Governor Soludo reiterated that security, law, and order remain the foundation of his government’s vision for a livable and prosperous Anambra State. He urged Ndi Anambra to continue supporting the security measures in place, emphasizing that a crime-free environment is key to sustainable development and economic growth.
