World Cancer Day: Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa Calls for Awareness and Support
As the world marks World Cancer Day today, February 4, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has called for increased awareness and proactive measures to combat the disease.

World Cancer Day is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about cancer, promoting prevention, and showing solidarity with those affected. With over 40% of cancer cases and nearly half of related deaths linked to preventable causes, Hon. Olowa emphasized the importance of early detection and healthy lifestyle choices in reducing risks.

"While some cancers are beyond human control, we can all take steps to protect ourselves. Awareness, early detection, and lifestyle modifications play a crucial role in the fight against cancer," he stated.

Hon. Olowa expressed sympathy for cancer patients, urging strength and hope for those undergoing treatment. He also extended support to survivors and families affected by the disease.

"On this World Cancer Day, may strength, courage, and hope guide all those battling cancer towards healing and recovery. Let us continue to raise awareness and support efforts for better treatments and early detection to save lives," he added.

The observance of World Cancer Day serves as a reminder of the need for continued advocacy, medical advancements, and community support in the fight against cancer.
