Dangote Foundation Distributes 60,000 Bags of Rice to Vulnerable Nigerians in Katsina, Kwara 

The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has intensified its nationwide food intervention programme by donating a total of 60,000 bags of rice to vulnerable individuals in Katsina and Kwara States. This initiative is part of ADF’s ongoing distribution of one million bags of rice worth ₦16 billion across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, aimed at alleviating economic hardship, especially during the holy months of Ramadan and Lent.  

### **35,000 Bags Distributed in Katsina**  

In Katsina State, ADF flagged off the distribution of **35,000 bags of 10kg rice** at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium. Speaking at the event, Mustapha Umar, an ADF representative, stated that beneficiaries were selected from the **361 wards across 34 local government areas** of the state.  

“This year’s gesture is targeting over one million vulnerable Nigerians, reducing their hardship due to the economic situation in the country,” Umar noted. He emphasized that the distribution aligns with ADF’s commitment to supporting Muslims during Ramadan and Christians observing Lent.  

Commending the initiative, **Hisbah Board Commander, Dr. Aminu Usman**, said the donation would significantly ease the burdens of the less privileged. He called on other wealthy individuals to follow Dangote’s example and support vulnerable communities.  

During the distribution, several physically challenged beneficiaries were wheeled to the venue to collect their shares. The exercise was supervised by officials from the Katsina government, including members of the Hisbah Board and State Community Development Programme.  

### **25,000 Bags for Indigent Families in Kwara**  

Similarly, **25,000 bags of rice** were allocated to **16 local government areas** in Kwara State. The ADF team, led by **Ahmed Gobir, Group General Manager of Human Resources at Dangote Cement Plc**, was received by **Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi**, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the Ministry of Agriculture in Ilorin.  

Alabi praised the initiative, stating, *“This act of compassion comes at a crucial time, providing much-needed relief to those observing Ramadan and Lent. It complements the ongoing efforts of the Kwara State Government to support vulnerable communities.”*  

Gobir, speaking on behalf of Aliko Dangote, reiterated ADF’s commitment to humanitarian efforts. He noted that the Foundation has consistently executed large-scale philanthropy, and this year marks the **second consecutive year of donating one million bags of rice nationwide**.  

“This is not just a gesture of charity but a demonstration of our commitment to setting Nigerians up for success. Through our four-pillar focus on nutrition, health, education, and empowerment, we aim to alleviate hunger and contribute to broader food security in Kwara and across Nigeria,” Gobir added.  

### **A Call for More Humanitarian Support**  

Expressing gratitude, **Kwara Commissioner for Agriculture, AbdulAfeez Abolore**, described the event as historic and in line with religious teachings on charity. He emphasized that the combined efforts of ADF and the state government would help mitigate food insecurity.  

With ADF’s continued intervention, thousands of vulnerable Nigerians are receiving crucial food relief amid rising economic challenges. The Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to support communities and create a lasting impact across the nation.
