Receives Recognition for Outstanding Leadership and Developmental Strides

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been named The Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2024, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and transformative governance, which have significantly advanced infrastructural development and economic progress in Anambra State.

The prestigious award was presented at a grand ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on March 1, 2025. The event was attended by top government officials, members of the National Assembly, and dignitaries from both the public and private sectors, who commended Governor Soludo for his remarkable achievements in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, human capital development, innovation, economic growth, and security within a short period of his administration.

Commendation for Visionary Leadership

Presenting the award, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, alongside The Sun Newspaper publisher, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, praised Governor Soludo for his visionary leadership and dedication to making Anambra a thriving hub for business and investment.

She highlighted his impressive track record as the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and his commitment to transforming Anambra into a state where people can live, work, invest, and enjoy a high quality of life.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to The Sun Publishing Limited for the honor, attributing the achievement to the collective efforts of his cabinet members, the Solution Team, and the hardworking people of Anambra State.

“I dedicate this award to the good people of Anambra—the keke drivers, artisans, market men and women—who are working tirelessly to make Anambra great,” Soludo stated.

Recognized for Excellence in Governance and Fiscal Management

Governor Soludo’s latest recognition follows several other accolades for his innovative governance and strategic reforms.

Recently, he was honored as the Best-Performing Governor in Primary Healthcare Delivery in the Southeast and Nigeria by the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.

Additionally, Anambra State ranked fourth in BudgIT’s State of States 2024 Report for overall fiscal performance and sustainability. This recognition underscores Soludo’s strong fiscal policies, healthcare improvements, and economic management strategies, especially at a time when many states face financial and developmental challenges.
