Lagos Police Arrest Cable Vandals, Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, and Cultists in String of Operations

The Lagos State Police Command has recorded multiple successes in its crime-fighting efforts, arresting several suspects involved in cable vandalism, kidnapping, assault on a police officer, murder, cultism, and armed robbery across the state.

Four Suspected Cable Vandals Arrested in Eredo

In the early hours of March 2, 2025, at about 2:30 AM, operatives of the Command, while on routine patrol, intercepted four suspected cable vandals attempting to steal electrical conductors from a transformer at Igbonla/Ilara Road, Eredo, Odo Noforija.

The suspects, identified as Innocent Victor (47), Yusuf Ismaila (45), Omega David (46), and Francis Asua (43), were caught in the act with pliers, two iron cutting saws, a hammer, and their operational vehicle—a Toyota Corolla with registration number BDG-22-GX (ash color).

They have been taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing.

Police Officer Assaulted in Shasha, Two Arrested

On March 3, 2025, at about 12:30 PM, operatives on stop-and-search duty at Olukosi Bus Stop, Shasha, accosted a commercial rider and his passenger. However, the passenger resisted being searched and mobilized a group of hoodlums to attack the officers, leading to a serious assault on the team leader.

Two of the attackers, Maja Tayo (26) and Ogunbayode Olumide (25), were arrested on the spot, while others fled. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the principal suspect and other fleeing accomplices.

Pakistani National Rescued from Kidnappers in Ikeja

On March 5, 2025, at about 7:10 PM, police operatives responded to a distress call from Awolowo Way, Ikeja, reporting the kidnapping of a Pakistani national, Iftkhar (48).

Investigations revealed that seven other Pakistanis had lured the victim from Kano to Lagos under the guise of offering him a job as a chef. Upon his arrival in Lagos on February 28, 2025, the suspects received him at the airport but, on March 1, 2025, they overpowered him at his lodge, tied his hands and legs, and robbed him of $2,000, three ATM cards, his Green Card, driver’s license, and NIN slip. They later demanded a ransom of ₦50 million from his employer in Kano, who paid ₦1 million to the kidnappers.

Acting on intelligence, police stormed the kidnappers’ hideout, rescued the victim unhurt, and arrested two suspects—Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28). The remaining five kidnappers escaped. A Toyota Camry with registration number EDO-SGD-AE was recovered. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.

Two Arrested Over Death of Man in Victoria Island

On March 8, 2025, at about 3:33 PM, police received a report that Dorothy Emmanuel (25) had engaged in a fight with Paul Digha (33) and Sunday Olukoya at NPA Road, Harbour Point, off Wilmer Road, Victoria Island.

During the altercation, Dorothy sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Police detectives swiftly arrested Paul Digha and Sunday Olukoya, who are now in custody as investigations continue.

Notorious Cultist 'Baale' Arrested in Iju

On March 8, 2025, at about 7:05 AM, a notorious cultist, Ibrahim Toheeb (26), alias ‘Baale’, was arrested during a police stop-and-search operation at Fagba Junction, Iju.

Toheeb, who has been on the police wanted list for cult-related killings, was found in possession of illicit drugs. Other gang members managed to escape, and efforts are ongoing to track them down.

Armed Robbery Suspect Nabbed with Gun in Ketu

On March 7, 2025, at about 2:00 PM, police operatives stationed at "Y" Junction along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ketu, arrested a suspected armed robber, Shaibu Useni (27), from Sagamu, Ogun State.

Upon searching the suspect, officers recovered a locally made revolver, four expended cartridges, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.

The suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
