Nigerian Navy Conducts Free Medical Outreach in Majidun Community

Lagos, March 18, 2025 – In a bid to strengthen civil-military relations and improve healthcare access, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has provided free medical services to residents of the Majidun community in Ikorodu West Local Government Area, Lagos State.  

The medical outreach, led by Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, who also serves as the Maritime Component Commander (MCC) South-West for Operation AWATSE, featured free blood sugar tests, consultations, and medications for community members.  

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations (CDCMR), Rear Admiral OA Bankole, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, to conduct medical outreach programs across the eight operational theaters in the country.  

*"This exercise aims to assist the less privileged, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children, by offering free medical services while fostering a strong bond between the military and the community,"* Rear Admiral Bankole stated.  

He urged residents to take advantage of the medical support and called on them to collaborate with security personnel by providing credible intelligence on criminal activities to enhance security operations.  

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West, Honourable Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, commended the Nigerian Navy for its humanitarian efforts. He assured the military of continued support from the Majidun community in safeguarding lives and property in the area.  

The outreach is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Navy to support local communities while enhancing security through strengthened cooperation between military personnel and civilians.
