Senator Abiru Honored with Responsive Representation Award by Senate Press Corps

Abuja, March 14, 2025 – The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (APC, Lagos East), has been recognized with the "Responsive Representation for Good Governance Award" by the Senate Press Corps (SPC).

The award was presented in Abuja on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Corps, Mr. Taiye Odewale, who commended Senator Abiru’s dedication to quality representation and impactful legislative contributions.

"Senator Abiru's legislative inputs, both in plenary and committee sessions over the last four years, have significantly contributed to governance-driven laws at the federal level. Beyond that, his representation of Lagos East has been exceptionally responsive, with numerous empowerment initiatives benefiting his constituents," Odewale stated.

A Legacy of Impactful Representation

According to the SPC, Senator Abiru’s tenure since December 2020 has been marked by human capital development, community-focused projects, and targeted empowerment programs aimed at improving the lives of various groups within Lagos East.

In his acceptance speech, a visibly elated Senator Abiru expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the award to his staff in Abuja and Lagos East.

"I sincerely appreciate the Senate Press Corps for this honor, based on their independent assessment. I dedicate this award to my entire team, from my Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to other staff members in Abuja and Lagos East. This recognition serves as motivation for me to do even more for my constituents and contribute effectively to national legislation."

He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation, impactful lawmaking, and governance reforms that will continue to benefit both his senatorial district and the nation at large.
