Anambra’s 21 LGAs Unify Behind Soludo, Demonstrating a Renewed Mandate and Reaffirmed Vision

ANAMBRA – In a remarkable display of political unity and maturity, all 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State have come together to support Governor Charles Soludo as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

At a convention marked by both high energy and peaceful proceedings, APGA accredited 3,260 delegates, with 3,175 casting their votes. Of the 3,168 valid votes recorded, only four were deemed invalid, resulting in an overwhelming clean sweep in favor of Governor Soludo. Chief Nwaegbo Uche, the chairman of the electoral committee, officially declared Soludo returned as the party’s candidate. Governor Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, confirmed that the exercise was conducted transparently under the watchful eye of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from both federal and state levels.

In his address, Governor Soludo paid tribute to the founding spirit of APGA—the first registered progressive party in Nigeria since 2002—and declared, “Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra,” to cheers from the assembled crowd. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to various stakeholders, including the clergy, traditional rulers, support groups, students, and countless individuals whose voluntary contributions and encouragement have driven his administration’s progress.

Governor Soludo outlined the key achievements of his administration, which include the recruitment of over 8,115 teachers and public servants to enhance human capital development, significant improvements in security and law enforcement, ongoing economic transformation initiatives, extensive infrastructure projects—particularly road construction linking rural and urban centers—and aggressive waste management and urban regeneration efforts aimed at making Anambra cleaner. He also highlighted strides in digital governance, value system reforms, and initiatives to bolster transparency and accountability in the public sector.

Reaffirming his confidence in his administration’s direction, Governor Soludo also confirmed the reappointment of Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as his running mate. “I will not let APGA and the people of Anambra down. I cannot and will not take this trust for granted,” he declared, emphasizing the critical role that unity and collective vision play in his roadmap for the state.

This unprecedented show of solidarity among Anambra’s political and civic leaders not only strengthens Soludo’s mandate but also underscores the electorate’s renewed confidence in his vision for the state’s future.
